MARCIA LYONS is an American experimental performance artist, writer, director, producer. Initially trained as a video artist, Lyons gained recognition in the New York art scene during the wave of BITCH Art, MEDIA + Performativity. Throughout '90s, Lyons did a variety of cross-over Performance Art activities, culminating in many awards, including the prestigious ROME PRIZE at The American Academy. Lyons' performances began to transition into mainstream sensory acting, film-making and iTV/BBC. Her work falls into the category of expanded performance —Lyons' network fictions cross-pollinate into extreme and uninhabited territories. A PhD from the European Graduate School, Switzerland in screenwriting and AUT/NZ and NYU/USA PhD in film has resulted in her first experimental crime novel, OPEN LIMIT, to be published by Atropos Press_Dresden/NYC (2016). Currently living and working in Los Angeles, her street photography essay book, DRIVE BY SHOOTING, curated by Tavelli Projects, is coming out soon. As a producer, writer, director, she is contracted to create projects for film, television, and digital distribution.
